High willingness to donate despite inflation – salzburg.ORF.at

The Salzburg Caritas is happy about the continued willingness to donate – despite the sharp rise in prices in many areas of daily life such as mobility, housing, food and energy supply. But there is a great need for domestic aid.
The Ukraine aid has gone very well so far, says the director of Salzburg Caritas, Johannes Dines. Dines attributes the high level of willingness to donate to media reporting, among other things. Compared to 2021, Dines is currently also satisfied with the amount of donations from the current campaign for the hunger crisis areas of Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Egypt. Dines estimates the total donation at around 100,000 euros.
“In total, we need between 250,000 and 300,000 euros. However, the collections of the parishes are still outstanding and have just sent out a few mailings. It is therefore only at the beginning of December that we can say how high the result is.
“Hope for more donations”
Due to various international crises, the amount of donations for domestic aid is currently somewhat behind, according to the Caritas Salzburg director. He is waiting for more to be donated here. Because of the many waves of inflation, more people in Salzburg are likely to be dependent on financial aid in the fall, says Dines.
