August 12, 2022 – 1263 views
Since the beginning of the summer, the campsite of the monks’ ponds has been “full” and the public has come to the leisure center, with up to 350 bathers who have been repeated on the beach during the scorching days in July and more than 300 people every afternoon since Monday. It is recalled that the site of the monks’ ponds is the only pond labeled “Blue Flag” in the North department, offering users the guarantee of good quality water, constantly analyzed by the Regional Health Agency.
Swimming is free and supervised from Tuesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and even until 8 p.m. on weekends. Deckchairs and parasols are even available for hire for only €2 for half a day. Stéphane Guinot, the director of the sports department at the town hall and responsible for the bathing area of the monks’ ponds in Fourmies, tells us more:
Beyond supervised swimming and the 4th pond reserved for the practice of triathlon (the ponds are an official triathlon base, labeled by the French federation), this leisure center is above all famous for offering many activities at low cost. high, in any case much cheaper than the activities offered for example at ValJoly (2 to 6 times less depending on leisure).
You can rent a pedal boat for 30 minutes for only €2 per person or even get a mountain bike for €4 an hour. There is also a “Laser Game” on site (€5 for 20 mins), mini-golf (€2), pedal go-karts and electric scooters for hire (€2 for 30 mins), a “crooked kids” area and even a tree climbing course, with its 3 zip lines (€4 per person). So what do the users of the monks’ ponds think? Listen to the reactions of Marie-Ange and Bruno de La Flamengrie and several holidaymakers met this week on the beach of the ponds:
Remember that many activities take place every day until August 30 on this site. For example, there are regular concerts on Sunday afternoons (on the terrace of Mama frites), sometimes water jousting, miniature boat races (2 to 3 times a week, beach handball on August 21, sandcastle competitions, the foot of the beach or even a great electro-techno evening, with more than 3 hours of mix on August 30 to end the summer holidays in style!
