Three cases of monkeypox in Monaco, vaccination begins in the principality
Vaccination against monkeypox is now open in Monaco for people who have had contact at risk or as a preventive measure, for the most exposed adults.
Three cases of monkeypox have been detected in Monaco, including a resident. Even though they are now all cured, this beginning of contamination convinced the principle of opening the vaccination.
In a press release issued on Thursday August 11, the Prince’s government indicates that it has acquired sufficient stocks of vaccines to take care of its resident population – estimated at 39,000 people.
Vaccination is open to people who have had risky contact with a patient or, as a preventive measure, to the most exposed groups.the disease entering, in more than 90% of cases, within the framework of notifiable sexually transmitted infections (STIs).”
In France, shave qualified for vaccination, according to the High Health Authority, men who have sex with men and multi-partner trans people; professionals working in places of sexual consumption and sex workers.
As of August 9, 2022, 2,601 cases of monkeypox have been handed over to France, including 174 in the PACA region, the fourth most affected French region, according to data from Public Health France.
In France, vaccination has been open since mid-July and is beginning to be tested in pharmacies.
As a reminder, monkeypox is an infectious viral disease. The first symptoms are fever, muscle aches, fatigue and possible swollen glands.
In a second period, skin and mucous membrane lesions may appear all over the body. The genital, anal and oral areas are more often affected sometimes, with lesions appearing before the lymph nodes, fever, malaise and pain associated with the lesions, recalled the WHO.
Most often, this disease heals in 2-4 weeks. A sick person is contagious as soon as skin symptoms appear. As long as there are no symptoms, there is no risk of transmission.
