Two blue derbies under the stars of San Marino
Waving the tricolor in the evening of San Marino, with four Italians engaged in two derbies with the quarter-finals up for grabs. This is the rich program for the blue colors at the “Internazionali San Marino Open”, an appointment of the ATP Challenger Tour (67,960 euros the prize money) underway on the courts of the Tennis Center Cassa di Risparmio di Montecchio.
The fifth day of the Challenger of the “Titan” the singles draw in the quarter-finals, with the dispute of four second-round matches. After the two afternoon matches (De Jong – Vacherot and Janvier – Kotov), in the evening the program comes alive with the two expected blue derbies.
The first has the qualified as protagonists Francesco Forti (# 453 in the world) e Marco Cecchinato, fifth seeded and n.140 ATP. The 23 year old from Cesena on his debut in the main draw clearly beat the Bosnian Nerman Fatic (n.275 ATP), while the 29 year old from Palermo eliminated the wild card Mattia Bellucci. There is no precedent between the Sicilian expert, champion in the tournament in 2013, and the 21-year-old from Busto Arsizio.
The second blue challenge opposes the qualified Alexander Weis (n.423 ATP) a Lorenzo Giustino (# 253 in the ranking). The 25-year-old from Bolzano, after having brilliantly passed the “which” made his debut in the tournament (in a main draw of this category) by clearly beating the Kazakh Timofey Skatov. More complex debut for the 30-year-old from Naples, winner of a tough marathon against the Croatian Nino Serdarusic, seventh in the seeding of San Marino. The Campania player won the only previous match with the South Tyrolean, played in 2018 in the second round of the Future Italy F2.
