Glosse: Salzburg again: Leipzig sleuths on the transfer market
RB Leipzig has signed the next player from Salzburg. It is the 19th kicker since 2012 – and proof of the excellent scouting of the Saxons.
Some coaches may be counting down the days until the transfer window closes in Europe’s top divisions, but for fans and observers there’s little more excitement than the squads of football club activities.
As has been mentioned several times at this point, FC Barcelona is particularly entertaining. The hat invested around 150 million euros despite a level of debt that Peter Zwegat would also capitulate to. And is now faced with the problem that the Spanish league has given itself a fair play regulation, according to which money must come in at some point so that the new kickers are eligible to play. Robert Lewandowski and the other newcomers are unlikely to be on the pitch when La Liga starts this weekend.
Leipzig complained about Bayern: “Find other ideas sometimes”
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga clubs are expanding their storm centers: Dortmund have signed Anthony Modeste from Cologne, Leipzig are bringing back Timo Werner from London. Anyway, Leipzig! The likeable high-flyer was hit hard last year. The Saxons not only lost their coaching staff, but also captain Sabitzer and defender Upamecano to Bayern. And currently FCB is still digging with Konrad Laimer on the next RB professional. Leipzig’s managing director Oliver Mintzlaff has already warned that “Bayern should find other ideas and not always bring our players”.
He is right! After all, it’s one of the cheapest things to always rage at the same club. The smart people of Leipzig are also likely to take this into account. Because while other clubs are building the current squad, the lawn ballers are already working on the one for the new season. As the group management announced, the Slovenian Benjamin Sesko will come in the summer of 2023. The 19-year-old comes from a club from Austria called Red Bull Salzburg, which just happens to have a shirt sponsor and a logo similar to Leipzig. The fact that he is the 19th player to switch from Salzburg to Leipzig since 2012 is really pure coincidence. Switching from Salzburg to Leipzig is a good idea – to speak to Oliver Mintzlaff.
