Tsavousoglou: Athens-Nicosia have tried 9 times to send ships to our continental shelf
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu referred again to Greece at the opening of the Diplomacy Conference.
“We continue to pursue our policy in the Eastern Mediterranean without compromise in accordance with international law and the principle of equality. In the Aegean, we want the problems to be dealt with holistically and to be solved comprehensively, permanently and in accordance with international law. However, Greece does not have the political will to solve the problems, it does not give up its habits,” he said characteristically, according to ERT.
At the same time, he noted that Ankara has informed the UN that the islands that are very close to its shores are constantly being armed. “We explain to our interlocutors, especially the UN, that the islands near our coasts, which according to international agreements must be in a civilian state, are armed. We will continue to deal with this issue, which is of critical importance for the security of our country,” he said.
Besides, during his speech, he stated, according to ERT, that the “Greeks and Greek Cypriots tried to send nine times to our continental shelf but we prevented them”.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, he reiterated that if there are no negotiations, they should be between two states and if there is a compromise between the two states, then half the problems of the Eastern Mediterranean will be solved.
Regarding the announced exit of the Turkish drilling vessel “Abdulhamit Han” in the Eastern Mediterranean, he emphasized that tomorrow it will sail in the open sea.
