Toulouse: the Nakache summer pool again closed to the public for “technical reasons”
While the mercury will continue to rise this week and the bodies of water and swimming pools are lacking in Toulouse and around, the Nakache summer pool was again forced to close on Monday August 8, for “technical reasons”, assures the town hall.
“The swimming pool is closed until further notice”, indicated yesterday the website of the town hall, “due to a technical problem”. This is the second closure of this basin this summer, the largest in the Pink City and represented by hundreds of Toulouse residents from working-class neighborhoods but not only.
A “Pool plan”
On July 20, the Capitol explained that the partial closure of the basin was due to a problem with the chlorine threshold to be respected. Only the paddling pool, which had not been affected by the incident, remained open to the public.
The fact remains that the places where the population can bathe with the family are thus dwindling for the people of Toulouse. The city has deployed an ambitious “Pool Plan” for five years, but due to several closures this year (Castex, Bellevue, Léo Lagrange, Nakache, etc.), not to mention the bodies of water (La Ramée), it is making headlines bold of the municipal opposition.
“A Public Report”
The elected representatives of Alternative municipal citoyenne castigate “technical closures which are carried out in the most total opacity”. And to drive the point home: “What are the reasons which lead the town hall to close Papus and Nakache in the middle of a heat wave? Nobody knows. The dilapidated state of the swimming pools is alarming: the Castex basin would lose the equivalent of a small basin in water every day, the Nakache summer basin is dirty”, note the opponents of the mayor and president of the metropolis Jean-Luc Moudenc.
The signatories of the tribune Agathe Roby, François Piquemal and Odile Maurin urgently demand “the town hall of Toulouse to make a public assessment of the state of the city’s swimming pools”.
