Saturday August 6, 2022, the national police are informed at midday of a bike theft, glass factory squarea Rouen (Seine-Maritime). According to the elements reported by the urban surveillance center of the municipal police, the theft occurred “between 12:10 p.m. and 12:20 p.m.”, indicates a judicial source.

Having recovered the CCTV images and provided with the physical description of the suspect, the police set out to find him.

A cutter and cutting pliers

Around 3:45 p.m., a crew from the public transport surveillance brigade (BSTC) spotted an individual who seemed to correspond to the description, rue Lafayette.

The police check the identity of this young man old 23 years, who declares himself to be homeless. The suspect is in possession of a cutter and one cutting pliers. But not the stolen bike.

The man is nevertheless “very deferential known to the police for this type of fact”, completes our source. And the latter to add that the arrested is the subject of a search sheet because he had to be placed under house arrest.

The bike not yet found

Placed in police custody, “the individual recognizes the facts”. For the bike theft, he is the subject of a comparison on prior recognition of debt (CRPC), dated January 9, 2023. The man also received a summons by a judicial police officer (COPJ) for February 2023 , acting on his house arrest.

As for the bike, it has not yet been found and therefore could not be returned to its owner, who has filed a complaint.
