Austria: Illwerke VKW are planning five HPC parks
The Vorarlberg energy service provider Illwerke VKW is building five new charging parks for electric cars this year and next. Construction work for modern charging parks in Bregenz and Hohenems will start this year.
The Dornbirn, Rankweil and Bludenz/Bürs locations are in the starting blocks for implementation in 2023, as the company has announced. 14 to 20 connections with an output of up to 300 kilowatts per charging point are planned for each charging park – i.e. probably seven to ten charging stations with two connections.
“In order to be future-proof,” Illwerke VKW equips each charging park with around 2 megawatts of connection power, as the announcement goes on to say. Since the demand for charging stations is particularly high on main traffic arteries and near the motorway, there is increased construction in this area.
“We tailor our offer clearly to needs, but we also work strategically and anticipate potential hubs,” says project manager Philipp Österle. “Such an investment in the energy future is also the goal of building five new and powerful charging parks along the A14.”
Since, according to Österle, ease of use is an important criterion for Illwerke VKW, the new charging parks will be compatible with the cards from over 50 charging card providers. In addition, there is a payment option directly via the installed credit card terminal. Billing takes place via a calibration law-compliant meter for consumption-based billing.
Details of the places where the Illwerke are not yet mentioned. It is clear that the charging stations will be open to the public “and some will be equipped with additional infrastructure – roofing, waiting area, coffee and snack machines, toilets”. Only which location will receive which equipment is not yet specified.
