“We didn’t leave out anything while celebrating” – Hockey-News.info
The times when there was a summer break in ice hockey are long gone. After the extended championship celebrations and a short break, the Red Bulls pros also started training again very soon and started team training again a week ago. Yesterday in České Budějovice the first test match of the new season was played.
Florian Baltram has really used the summer to focus more on ice hockey, as he stated in an interview for the Red Bulls website:
Florian, can you still remember the championship celebrations?
Yes, yes. I think we partyed through a week in no time. There was something different on the program every day and we didn’t leave anything out. But I think we deserved that after a long and tough season. I won’t forget that in a hurry, hopefully we’ll experience it again next year.
Where did you go on holiday and what did you like the most?
We have a large circle of friends with players from the team, but also from other teams. We went on an Ibiza trip together, something like a men’s holiday with a party. I was then in Greece with my girlfriend, we had a good time on Santorini and Ios. I really like Greece, with the sea and the good food. I can really switch off there. And it’s a nice change from the hard summer training.
What do you enjoy most about summer training?
You have a lot of time to work on weaknesses in order to get better overall. When the weather is nice, it sometimes takes some effort to go to the gym a second time in the afternoon, but that’s our job and that’s okay.
Which player(s) did you spend the most time with over the summer?
With a great many. I would name Pomsche, Ali and Benni, but we all get along really well in the team. At Henki we are often invited to barbecues, and Schneids is always there too. And a lot of my younger teammates, they’re all funny. I was trying to enjoy the time, to get my head off hockey a bit. But I was also happy that things will start up again soon, that we can fully attack again. Of course, the back-to-back mission comes first. We will do our best to keep the title in Salzburg.
