Netherlands fifth in Nations Cup, Scholtens secures Paris
In Herning, Emmelie Scholtens was drafted as the last rider for TeamNL to secure the qualification for the Paris Olympic Games. With the only nine year old Indian rock (by Apache) the rider scored 74.41% and brought the Netherlands to fifth place in the Nations Cup. Denmark won after an exciting battle between Van Olst’s Charlotte Fry on glamourdale (by Everdale) and Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour on Vamos Amigos (v. Vitalis) the Nations Cup. Great Britain took silver thanks to the ‘lotties’ and Germany took bronze, with Isabell Werth and DSP Quantaza (by Quaterback) as the best combination.
“Indian Rock act very well. He was on me. It is a very willing horse with a very good character. He does a lot in the piaffe and the passage and you can still see that in the balance. I don’t blame him. Jury members love to see him and so do I, of course,” Scholtens laughs afterwards. With his only year of age, the KWPN stallion is one of the younger participants in the field and he still has few Grands Prix in his feet. Scholtens chose him for the World Cup because stable mate Desperado is sidelined. “Actually, I would rather not have ridden championships with such an inexperienced horse, but it is an easy horse to take with you. he does provide his father Apache, but I see many similarities in terms of intelligence and willingness to work.”
Van Liere third
Individually there was nothing to win today, but the scoresheet is certainly interesting. Laudrup-Dufour was first and Fry second, both with scores above 80%. Third was Dinja van Liere, who already drove yesterday, with Hermes (by Easy Game) she rode to 78.835%. Dujardin, Werth and Benjamin Werndl came close behind the Dutch leader.
Grand Prix Special
Monday evening the first individual dressage medals will be distributed. It will be an exciting battle, with a leading group that is close together. In any case, the Danish public was very enthusiastic about the first gold today.
