Miscellaneous – Justice | Marseille – Old Port: beaten up at the exit of the metro
It’s a Saturday with friends, in a pub on the Old Port, which could have turned into a tragedy for nothing. On July 30, Jérôme is spending the evening with friends, when it’s time to go home to the 6th arrondissement.
After midnight, he takes his leave and rushes into the metro station before closing time. He passes the gantry when two people urge him to rush into his wake. But he pushes them away, telling them to get out and continue on their way towards the docks.
But now a security guard, obviously upset, pushes him back bluntly because the metro is closed. Jerome turns around, a little dreading to cross paths with the two men he upset at the gate. It doesn’t miss.
No sooner had he left at the Canebière level than he was thrown by a “brush” and beaten by the two men. “I had seen them towards the exit, but suddenly I found myself on the ground, the polo shirt completely torn. I could not do anything”, explains the victim to the court, who will come out of it slightly injured and let off steam from his mobile phone, after two long minutes of beating.
But the attackers were immortalized by network video surveillance. Two suspects are identified a few days later by police at the Colbert station, but only one of them corresponds perfectly to the description. Nour Al Islam is 24 years old. In police custody, he denies the facts but, facing the victim, despite the language barrier, this Algerian in an irregular situation ended up recognizing a few kicks and punches.
He confirms his participation, all smiles, this Friday, in the box of the criminal court, judged in immediate comparison for theft and violence in a meeting. “In fact, I had taken pills”, explains, still looking detached despite the presence of the victim. The young man was under Lyrica (pregabalin), an analgesic diverted for its hypnotic effects.
But for the prosecution, the pill is hard to pass. “On a case of predators on the lookout for their victims. And besides, he laughs“, chokes the prosecutor Ahmed Chafai, pointing in passing to the behavior of a security guard”who learned manners on a lawn mower…“Even if it means choking the defense lawyer in turn, the magistrate requires three years in prison against the defendant.”The facts are serious and shocking but let’s keep our emotions discreettries Me Nicolas Jockey. Three years for a day from ITT, I’ve never seen this“.
It will finally be 18 months in prison, accompanied by a warrant of committal.
