Prague 9 wants to build a new school building on its land in Vysočany
According to the city hall’s plans, the building should be located near the elementary and kindergarten (primary and kindergarten) U Elektra, which is now being built on the land between Poděbradská and Kolbenova streets. “In the fall, we will announce an international architectural competition, which we are currently working on,” said the mayor of Prague 9, Tomáš Portlík (ODS).
According to a representative of the town hall, the new school building, which the management of Prague 9 now refers to as ZŠ U Elektry II, could be built between Poděbradská and Sousedíková streets. Last year, the municipality bought land there for 116.9 million crowns from the Czech Post, with the understanding that thanks to the land purchase, the area intended for schoolchildren will be enlarged. The mayor of Prague 9 stated at the time that the district planned to use the land from the Czech Post to build sports and leisure facilities for children from the neighboring elementary school and kindergarten at Elektra.
Now the spokeswoman of the town hall said that the town hall wants to build more spaces with school classrooms. According to estimates, the number of children in the locality will increase in the coming years, and the capacity of the school currently being built will therefore not be sufficient in the future. According to Kurková, the municipality wants to further increase the number of places for schoolchildren through further construction. Mayor Portlík on his own FB he added that the sports field he designed for the U Elektry school will be part of the planned architectural competition. In July, the councilors of Prague 9 also approved the development of a proposal for the new building of other elementary schools in Hrdlořezy, which follows from their resolution.
Development projects are now being built in Vysočany instead of former industrial areas along Kolbenova and Poděbradská streets. Emil Kolben (Skanska) with houses named after members of the Kolben family, Suomi Hloubětín (YIT) with streets named after Finnish personalities, Výhledy Rokytka (Cronesta), Rezidence Hloubětín (Gartal), Nová Elektra (Finep), Vysočanský mlýn stand or grow here. (Metrostav), Tesla Hloubětín (Central Group) or AFI City with a high-rise office building and apartment buildings. In the long term, according to the spokesman of the Prague Institute of Planning and Development, Marek Vácha, almost 15,000 apartments should be created in the locality, as he said in June this year.
ZŠ and Kindergarten U Elektry are being built by the companies PP 53 and SMP CZ from spring 2021. Those with a bid price of 408,545,894 crowns without VAT won the tender for the construction contractor. The school, which is designed for about 700 schoolchildren and 78 preschoolers, should be built in 2023.
