The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) reported on Friday around 8:45 p.m. that very strong thunderstorms are occurring around Český Brod, Benešov and Říčany with wind gusts of around 70 kilometers per hour and hail up to two centimeters in size.
“Thunderstorms in the next two hours will move eastward to the districts of Kolín, Kutná Hora and Čáslav,” the meteorologists added.
A storm-damaged high-voltage line last year temporarily stopped traffic at the D1 and D46 highway crossing near Vyškov. The wires had to be taken down there because there was a risk of them falling onto the highway and endangering traffic.
