Greece: Intervention of the Supreme Court over the leak of confidential documents
Personally, the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Isidoros Dogiakos will conduct a criminal preliminary examination, not for the substance of the complaints regarding the monitoring of the president of KINAL-PaSoK Nikos Androulakis, but for the leakage of the information, contained in top secret state documents mentioned, as pointed out by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court, “the process of lifting the confidentiality of communications on matters related to the national security of the country”.
It will be carried out by the Supreme Court Prosecutor himself, due to the importance of the case, which raises, as explained by top prosecutorial sources, issues of national security and how information on the surveillance of specific persons was leaked.
It is noted that, in addition to Nikos Androulakis, the complaints for surveillance have been submitted by the journalist Thanasis Koukakis, the investigators who will be investigated for the variation of the data regarding the specific case, while the investigations into the essence of those being monitored are already being carried out by the Athens District Attorney’s Office.
