HEAT WEATHER: Côte-d’Or remains on orange alert
Météo France extends the orange vigilance to the heat wave of the Côte-d’Or at least until August 4 at 4 p.m. This Wednesday, on a reading of 34.7°C in Dijon.
On Thursday, temperatures are expected to rise to 39°C in the Saône plain. Temperatures are expected to drop on Saturday.
New heatwave episode a little less intense than the previous episode which occurred in July.
Current situation
The temperatures that appeared this Wednesday August 3 at 3 p.m. range between 33 and 36 degrees in general on the departments in orange vigilance for the heat wave. On a reading at 3 p.m.: 35.1 degrees in Dole (39), 35.0 degrees in Strasbourg (67), 34.7 degrees in Dijon (21).
Expected evolution
The heat is already present this Wednesday 3rd. It intensifies on Thursday 4th before weakening slightly on Friday 5th August.
The maximum temperatures for this Wednesday are not yet used everywhere. Temperatures can still gain a few tenths of a degree, or even around 1 degree in places. Thus the maximums imposed for this Wednesday afternoon are around 34 to 36 degrees, locally 37 degrees, particularly in the Saône valley.
Temperatures will drop only slightly overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. They will be Thursday at the lever of the day often around 18 to 21 degrees. In urban areas, temperatures will struggle to drop below 20 degrees.
Thursday afternoon the heat will rise again by a skull compared to the day before since the maximum temperatures should reach 36 to 38 degrees, locally 39 degrees in the plain of the Saône.
The night from Thursday to Friday will still be very hot and even hotter than the previous one with temperatures Friday at daybreak often between 19 and 22 degrees, or even higher in urban areas.
On Friday the weather will be heavy and more cloudy at times, sometimes even with thunderstorms, but this will not prevent temperatures from reaching another 30 to 34 degrees.
It will be necessary to wait until Saturday to see a real drop in temperatures which will be around 30 degrees at the hottest of the day.
Note that the following departments are on yellow alert for high temperatures: Nièvre, Yonne, Aube, Haute-Marne, Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Vosges. These departments are affected by the heat peak between Wednesday and Friday, with an overall intensity slightly less than in the departments in orange vigilance, and a drop in temperatures from Friday a little faster than in the departments in vigilance orange.
Fabien Sudry, prefect of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, prefect of the Côte-d’Or, calls for the greatest vigilance in order to guard against the risks associated with this episode.
In the face of strong heat, adopt the right reflexes:
– Drink water regularly,
– Continue to eat normally,
– Avoid going out during the hottest hours (11am-9pm) and if you have to go out, wear a hat and light clothing,
– Wet your body several times a day,
– Avoid physical and sports activities,
– Keep your home cool, close windows and shutters during the day,
– Do not drink alcohol,
– Give and hear from your loved ones,
– Take care of the most vulnerable groups: the elderly, babies and young children by ensuring that they are hydrated. For the elderly with chronic illness, or isolated in your entourage, hear from them and visit them.
