Largest solar park in the Netherlands has supplied the first power – De Drontenaar
Biddinghuizen
BIDDINGHUIZEN – Dorhout Mees solar park in Biddinghuizen recently delivered the first power. With 144 MWp, the park is the largest in the Netherlands and consists of 300,000 solar panels.
A Closed Distribution System (GDS) was used for the grid connection of the park, a unique solution to solve scarcity at the grid stations. The recently renovated Soar Carport at Walibi is also part of this solution. The system aims to provide 34,000 households with electricity per year.
“We are working on this solar park thanks to thinking that supplies power to all these households,” says Jelmer Pijlman, partner at Solarfields. “Problems arise in more places in the Netherlands to supply the generated energy back to the grid. This has the risk that sustainability will be greatly delayed. This innovative solution is a good example of thinking in terms of solutions. We are extremely proud that, together with all parties involved, we can prevent the energy transition in this way and we also expect this type of solution for elders in the Netherlands.”
