The coach of the national basketball team, Ronen Ginzburg, nominated the strongest possible fifteen players for the preparation for the European Championship in September.
Hear how the basketball players of the national team prepare for the European Championship matches
While last summer the national team’s life before the Olympic Games was complicated by problems with the coronavirus, so far this year everything is fine. But the Israeli coach prefers not to shout anything.
“We have to knock on wood because a month into Eurobasket we still have no injuries, no problems. If we stay healthy, we can do something big. We must not allow ourselves to be pressured in front of the home crowd, we have a good team, so we just have to show it on the field,” believes the coach.
The Czech national team will meet in less than a month, after several players changed their club address. For example, the pivot Ondřej Balvín, who will now play for the Ukrainian BK Prometei under Ronen Ginzburg.
“Spicy question. We had to wait for the right moment, it appeared and we got him, he is his dog Charlie. In the national team, the players always make some jokes. Before it was with Petr Benda and now it’s with Ondřej, but look, I already have two real sons and that’s more than enough,” added national team coach Ginzburg.
Personal confrontation
Nevertheless, Ondřej Balvín probably has to reckon with the fact that I have to tease him a lot in the national team. According to Tomáš Kyzlinka, they have given him mercy in the representative WhatsApp group.
“I think everyone keeps it to themselves, but when we meet, it will be a personal confrontation. This will definitely be better than in written form and the team will enjoy it more,” describes Kyzlink.
Tomáš Kyzlink will be fighting for his first participation in a major tournament. And unlike that, he still has nowhere to play in the next about it.
He finished the last one in Bamberg, Germany. It was there that Jaromír Bohačík transferred, so Kyzlinka probably won’t have a place left in the club. However, Kyzlink takes it in a sporting manner and does not plan any revenge at the training of the national team.
“I certainly can’t say that. It will certainly contribute to raising the quality of the training, when I will really go after myself, and that is the only benefit,” smiles Tomáš Kyzlink, who will be preparing in Mariánské Lázně with the other thirteen following from Tuesday.
The only one absent from training will be Jan Veselý, who will join the national coach on Saturday.
