Expert: Bulgaria is in good financial condition, despite the crisis
In what financial condition does the “Petkov” cabinet leave?
Against the background of the crisis that Bulgaria is facing – the war in Ukraine, the energy and food crisis, the country is in a good financial condition. That’s what he said the financial expert Boris Petrov on the air of “The Day ON AIR”.
According to him, the Acting Minister of Finance Rositsa Zheleva will most likely have to complete two important tasks – to prepare the draft budget for the next year and to assess in September if an update of the budget is necessary.
“The probability that a budget update will need to be prepared is 60%“, predicts the expert. According to him, the official cabinet should do what Kiril Petkov’s government also did, namely to compensate the consumers most affected by the energy crisis and to soften the conditions for the industry based on the general framework of the European Commission (EC).
In relation to the demands of business, talk to Gazprom to be renewed again Petrov, emphasize that Russia is in fact using gas supplies as a weapon to influence the low union.
“We can negotiate quantities, but there are no guarantees that they will be delivered at acceptable price terms. The prices at which they are being delivered at the moment are record highs. They are around 200 euros per megawatt hour, which is 2.5 – 3 times higher than last year’s“he thinks.
Petrov also commented on the EC’s plans to reduce consumption in the countries by 15%, according to which part of the supply will be compensated with that of liquefied gas.
“If we have the solidarity of all member states to agree on such a supply, there will be predictability. The calculation is that if the winter is a little milder, Europe, including Bulgaria, will manage,” the expert stated Bulgaria ON AIR. It became clear from his words that if the gas storage in Chiren is replenished at this rate, by October it will reach 80%
“Our energy system there are enough buffers that can absorb the increase in electricity demand“explained the one regarding the possibility of Bulgarians switching to heating entirely on electricity.
The expert also predicts that inflation will be contained in the third quarter of the year.
Advance payments under the Recovery Plan will be received in the fall. However, the rest depend on the legislative power – when will the next National Assembly be formed and when will we have a parliamentary majority to vote on the changes in the laws”summarized this in relation to the European funds expected by our country under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
