Comments on Eintracht Frankfurt’s victory: “It’s something to be proud of” | hessenschau.de
Eintracht Frankfurt was very satisfied with the start of the competitive game in Magdeburg – and even received praise from the opponent. The voices of the game.
Eintracht Frankfurt has survived the first round of the DFB Cup: Oliver Glasner’s team won 4-0 (2-0) at 1. FC Magdeburg. The goals were scored by Daichi Kamada (4’/59′), Jesper Lindström (31′) and Lucas Alario (90′). Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp also scored a penalty (7th).
Mario Götze: “It was a really good performance and it was important that we started the season like this. It was fun. It developed quite well in preparation. It was important that we put that on the pitch today. There are always something that can be perfected. Now we’re looking forward to the Bundesliga and, of course, to Real Madrid.”
Oliver Glaser: “We were too vulnerable to counterattacks in some situations, we have to correct that. But the fact that we win 4-0 here, in such a cauldron, that’s something to be proud of. We’ve done a lot well, but there are details that you can do better Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, who are coming now, exploit coldly. But it was the first competitive game. We know that if we play our game, it will be difficult for every opponent. And that’s what we did.”
Kevin Trap: “We knew what was coming. We’re very happy, we had to learn bitterly last year what such a first round can look like. We did a lot better than last year. We really played a good game, even though we twice had minor mistakes in the build-up game that we can avoid. It’s good that we then kept a clean sheet in the end.
Christian Titz (coach 1. FC Magdeburg): I have to congratulate Eintracht Frankfurt, who deserved to win here because they were clearly superior to us. We didn’t take the chance to equalize when the score was 0-1. Then we would have been in the game. Even after the half-time break we had two good chances to reduce to 1:2. If we had rolled die, a different rush would have come into play for the opponent.
Baris Atik (1. FC Magdeburg): “We didn’t do it well. We didn’t hold up well against the power that Frankfurt brought. We made too many mistakes, we can’t let that happen to us. But we’ll take this game with us and we can learn from it.”
Andreas Muller (1. FC Magdeburg): “In the first half we didn’t do what we wanted to do defensively – and then after four minutes we conceded a goal. If you keep the zero here for longer, it will be difficult for Frankfurt. But that’s how the drop sucked .”
