The City Hall of Prague 10 is awaiting a huge renovation: The city district is looking for replacement premises for hundreds of employees
“The survey will be completed on August 4, then evaluated and submitted to the Prague 10 municipal council by September 20. The evaluation will also include an updated offer for the lease of the commercial and administrative building in Vinice,” said the spokesperson. He added that the exact moving schedule will depend on the selected building and the agreement with the landlord.
According to the documents published by the city districts, the city hall anticipates concluding a lease agreement in the first half of next year. The move should be gradual. In addition to the above, the city district will also evaluate the location, transport accessibility and the possibility of parking.
Repairs to the unsatisfactory town hall in Vršovická street were supposed to start this year and should have been in 2024. However, according to earlier information, the preparation of the reconstruction was delayed. The city district wants to cover the more than one billion costs for the most part from a subsidy from the Ministry of the Environment and from a half billion interest-free loan from the Prague municipality.
The town hall buildings from the 1970s are in a bad condition, which is a major reconstruction. An opinion from 2019, for example, about leaks, about the danger of windows, cladding or window sills coming loose and falling onto the pavement under buildings, about fire risks or about unsecured boards with asbestos that is harmful to health.
The previous management of Prague 10 considered different options for solving the situation with the inadequate municipal office. First, there was a plan to build a new town hall at an estimated cost of 775 million crowns, but it was abandoned after criticism. After that, the transfer of the office to the unused school was considered, in the end the previous management decided to reconstruct the existing town hall.
