Hanover/Bremen (dpa/lni) – After many canceled Lufthansa flights, the ground staff’s warning strike has also ended in Hanover and Bremen. According to a union spokesman, “a good handful” of employees came to the stand at both airports together. Nevertheless, many of the feeder flights to the Frankfurt and Munich hubs are canceled on Wednesday.
On Tuesday and especially on Wednesday, Lufthansa canceled more than 1,000 flights with 134,000 affected passengers. Verdi had called around 20,000 ground staff on a warning strike in order to put pressure on the salary negotiations. The company criticized the walkout, which was called after two rounds of negotiations, as disproportionate. According to Verdi, there should be no further actions until the next round of talks in the coming week.
After the failures, Lufthansa will quickly return to normal operations. Almost all flights take place, said a spokeswoman on Thursday. According to an airport spokeswoman, all flights should start again in Bremen. For Hanover, the airport’s website showed two canceled flights to Frankfurt in the morning.
