Hannover 96: extortionate prices! Only at FC Bayern is the beer even more expensive | Sports
Cheers, meal!
As of this season, a beer in the 96 Arena costs 5 euros (plus 11 percent), the bratwurst costs 4.10 euros (plus 8 percent).
“We’re not the cheapest. But we’re not completely crazy in the upper segment,” claims Joachim König, head of the 96 caterer HCC. Unfortunately not!
BILD made the check: 96 has the most expensive beer in the second division. Even in the 1st league, only Bayern (5.50 euros) are above it.
The bratwurst is also one of the high-priced. Small consolation for 96 fans: At HSV it is even more expensive (4.50 euros).
Child nodded off exorbitant prices!
The HCC has set the prices, but in close consultation with 96 and thus also with Boss Martin Kind (78), who is also the managing director of Arena GmbH.
König: “The price increase was agreed with 96 before the season. 96 didn’t clap, would have preferred cheaper prices. But in the end 96 supported the new awards.”
The association confirmed: “According to the HCC, the increase in prices is due to significantly increased costs for raw materials, energy and personnel. Hannover 96 agreed to the increase based on this argument. We do not know the calculation in detail.”
The Beer Problem: HCC is tied to 96-sponsor guild, although the brewery has also increased prices. König: “We can’t just look for a cheaper partner.”
That’s why the exorbitant prices should remain – despite the fan anger and isolated calls to boycott beer and bratwurst in the 96 Arena. “The prices are calculated. I don’t think we can substantially take anything back,” says König.
To make matters worse, it wasn’t just the prices that caused trouble against St. Pauli, but also a defective cooling system. The HCC employees then poured cans of beer into the plastic cups and sold the partly lukewarm beer for 5 euros as well as the draft beer.
Memories of the 0-1 draw against Schalke in October were awakened when the beer ran out at a number of stands. At that time, the first big crowd (39,500 spectators) after Corona was said to be to blame.
After the new beer breakdown now against St. Pauli, 96 is now putting pressure on caterer HCC.
When asked by BILD, the club said: “The HCC was asked to comment and process the issues that arose around the home game on Saturday – of course with the aim that problems should not be allowed to repeat themselves. It is up to the HCC to find appropriate solutions.”
Let’s hope that HCC AND 96 will also reconsider the prices…
