Important operation during the lunch break this Monday. Around 12:25 p.m., 32 firefighters from the barracks of Dijon Nord, Est, Transvaal and Arc-sur-Tille went to rue Sadi-Carnot in Dijon, for a fire in an apartment building. Two SAMU teams were also dispatched.
A device at the height of the fire, deemed “important” by the Slocal fire and rescue servicedue to its location in the city center but also due to the presence of an Ehpad on the ground floor.
70 people evacuated, including residents of an nursing home
According to the latest information, the 10 residents of the nursing home and the three nursing staff were able to leave by their own means.
On the other floors, residents were also able to go out on their own. In all, 70 people, including 30 children, were able to escape the spread of smoke. No injuries are reported.
More fear than harm therefore for this small-scale fire, which started from a vehicle fire in a garage. Its origin remains unknown for the moment.
Looking for a temporary place for seniors
While waiting for the firefighters to ventilate the site, in order to ensure that there is no more carbon dioxide in the premises, the Municipal Center for Social Action in Dijon will open an access point.
For her part, the director of the Ehpad is looking for a reception solution for this afternoon.
