Bad criticism – band lashes out at journalist
It’s best not to read bad reviews – or you verbally attack those responsible for them. The band Böhse Onkelz chose the latter.
After two rock concerts in Frankfurt’s Deutsche-Bank-Park, the Böhse Onkelz approached a journalist on Facebook – because the band liked the coverage of the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ) about the concert at the weekend night.
In his concert review, the “FAZ” journalist Darius Hoffmann accused the band of a “commercialized brand core that has little to do with system-critical punk” and also addressed the band’s alleged tax avoidance tricks. After the concert, Hoffmann retained the impression of a band “that continues to master the game of staging without stopping with a character maturing process.”
Concert in Frankfurt: Böhse Onkelz criticize the report
There was a clear reaction to the criticism on Facebook on Monday morning – in the music scene it is probably unusual for musicians to deal with criticism in such detail and publicly. The band writes on Facebook that the “FAZ” journalist Hoffmann showed up “hectically and haphazardly” for a meeting with the band.
