After Budapest, they also parade in Pécs, the LGBTQ parade is coming in September
The LGBTQ community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people) and supporters of XIII. They gathered at the intersection of Dráva utca and Carl Lutz wharf, from where the parade organized by the Szivárvány Missionzió Foundation started to Szabadság tér in the 5th district.
The procession went along the Danube to Margit Bridge, then continued past the Parliament on the lower quays, then arrived at Szabadság Square via Zoltán Street.
The marchers waved rainbow-colored EU flags and sang and danced to the pounding music. The march was accompanied by more than 10 flatbed trucks, on which ten participants danced.
Zita Hrubi, Budapest Pride its press spokesperson said: I would like to achieve that next year it will be held not only in Budapest and Pécs, but also in other cities of the country Pride parade.
The organizers were previously quoted as saying, “Last year’s Parade, which is a milestone in the history of Hungary, was stored at every moment and we were sufficiently certain that we can talk about an event that is necessary every year. We relive every precious moment when we walk through the historic city center. We hear the hymns of Love, the voice of the Free People who were there last year and proved that it is Free to celebrate all forms of love Anywhere. That the countryside cannot be a handicap for any person, compared to the capabilities of the capital. “
At the LGBTQ parade last September a few thousand people participated. Early in the morning, before the start of the procession through the city center, the police closed the entire city center of Pécs. The marchers walked the streets of Pécs walking between cordons.
Members of the LGBTQ community were originally supposed to march in downtown Pécs on May 16, 2020, but the organizers then announced that the organization would be suspended due to the new coronavirus epidemic.
Then they said, “they are working on creating an emergency scenario, they are constantly getting information from their expert and consulting colleagues, and they will notify everyone in time of the new date.” Nothing came of this in 2020, they canceled the event “in response to the situation in the world”.
Due to the epidemic, the collection of signatures that they wanted to use to force the opponents of the parade to hold a public hearing on the issue of the homosexual parade was suspended by the left-liberal city administration of Pécs.
The signature collection, which was initiated by János Kővári, the KDNP-ÖPE faction leader, took place on paper sheets, and thousands of people joined in a short time.
According to the organizational and operational regulations of the municipality, at least six thousand signatures are required to schedule a public hearing.
The fight against piracy can still be signed (and is still being signed) on the world wide web protest petitionhas already been signed by more than eleven thousand people.
Despite all this, the organizers and their supporters did not give up on their plan, which they had already implemented in September last year, and according to their intentions, this September will be no different, and they will march again.
