The Lower Saxony state parliament has launched an energy saving package. Initially, until the end of the parliamentary holidays at the end of August, savings should be made on cooling, heating and lighting.
At the beginning of September, a decision will be made on how to proceed with the energy-saving measures, the state parliament in Hanover said on Friday. The extent of the savings cannot yet be quantified, but they are likely to be in the low double-digit percentage range of the total energy consumption. Previously the “Weser courier“reported about it from Bremen.
LED lights, cold water and cooling in technical rooms only
The measures include, among other things, dispensing with purely representative lighting. In addition, according to a letter from the President of the State Parliament, Gabriele Andretta (SPD), the replacement of light sources with energy-saving LED technology, which has already begun, should become normal. In the future, washing hands should only be possible with cold water. The cooling function of the ventilation systems will be switched off during the summer break – the only exception is the absolutely necessary technical cooling, for example in the data centers. Individuals should no longer be able to use rooms in hot weather, “measures can be expected” if necessary, as the state parliament would say.
