The Central Bohemian Region and the capital city of Prague declare cooperation in the completion of the Prague Ring Road
The construction of the northern part of the Prague ring road is one step closer. Representatives Central Bohemia region, the capital city of Prague and the Directorate of Roads and Highways (ŘSD) confirmed the planned routing of the circuit in the Principles of Territorial Development (ZÚR) in their own territories and their interest in working closely not only with each other, but also with the mayors of the affected Central Bohemian municipalities. The coordination meeting will be joined by Deputy Governor for Regional Development and Spatial Planning Jiří Snížek, Councilor for Road Transport Karel Bendl, Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib, his Deputy for Road Transport Adam Scheinherr, as well as representatives of the ŘSD and companies Prague project.
The meeting dealt with the completion of sections 518, 519 and 520, i.e. the Ruzyně, Suchdola, Březiněvsi and Satalice connections. “Traffic load in Prague i Central Bohemia region is constantly growing, and the completion of the northern part of the circuit is crucial for both regions. Prague mediated the concept of traffic burden, we, on the other hand, provide a stable route in ZÚR on our territory. The construction as such is ensured by the ŘSD,” deputy Jiří Snížek and continues: “In addition to confirming the stabilized route, we confirmed the will to complete the construction of the circuit from parties of two self-governing units.”
Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib adds that Prague welcomes the very close cooperation of all interested parties hillside in the coordination of important constructions. “It is necessary to remind that the ring road is not only meant to make it easier for people from other regions to get to Prague, but to ease traffic in Prague by diverting transit traffic from part of the metropolis,” explains Mayor Zdeněk Hřib. Part of the construction of the ring road should also include jumpers between the ring road and the wider city center. “We will commission a study that should determine where to lead the jumpers in the northeastern part of the city,” adds Adam Scheinherr.
The Prague ring road is a key construction that will facilitate transport in two territorial self-governing units and many others Central Bohemian it will relieve municipalities, as in the case of Prague, from transit traffic. “In principle, it can also be said that the completed circuit, which has unfortunately been missing here for decades, will help reduce the load on Central Bohemian roads II. and III. class, which is reflected in their better management and longer service life in the case of reconstructed sections,” says councilor Karel Bendl.
Prague and Central Bohemian Region cooperate intensively for a long time. An example of good coordination is the preparation of detour routes during the reconstruction of the Barrandovský bridge (opening of ski slopes in the southern part of the circuit) and during other constructions on the borders of the region and the capital. The date when the drivers will drive to the new section for the first time has not yet been set. The western and southern sections between Ruzyní and Modletice and the section between Satalice and Běchovice have so far been completed. Section No. 511 between Běchovice and the D1 highway is also under preparation, or Prayers.
