“We were hoping that Ed would be on the mend before tomorrow’s (Friday) show. visit a doctor in Prague and continue treatment, unfortunately he still has no voice,” the band announced to fans, to whom they offer “a sincere apology”. “We’ve always had memorable shows here at your place and we’re just as disappointed as you,” Pearl Jam wrote.
The Prague concert is already the second that the band had to cancel due to Vedder’s problems with his vocal cords. Wednesday’s concert in Vienna also did not take place. According to the band, the frontman’s voice was damaged by the 40-degree heat, dust and smoke during a July 17 performance near Paris.
Pearl Jam was formed in 1990 in Seattle, USA, where Soundgarden and Alice in Chains also come from. Despite their feuds with the “music establishment” such as Ticketmaster, the band became one of the most popular musical acts of the 1990s.
Together with Nirvana, they are among the main representatives of the grunge rock music style. Pearl Jam significantly contributed to its development in 1991 with their album Ten, which contains hits such as Alive, Jeremy and Even Flow.
