A lasting heat wave
Already present for ten days, the high temperatures will persist. At the start of the week, temperatures were close to 40°C, and even if Météo France announces minimum heat this Thursday, around 34°C, they remain well above normal for the season.
Friday, July 22 will bring the mercury back up to 38°C, with a risk of evening thunderstorms that will allow the heat to drop a little for the weekend, close to 35°C.
” This heat wave promises to be exhausting because it will last explains Lyon Météo, comparing with previous heat episodes. Temperatures will not reach the magnitude of those of the 2003 heat wave but will be higher for longer than last June or during the heat wave of July 2019.

Heat waves will spread
The president of the Métropole de Lyon Bruno Bernard shares on his Twitter account this Thursday, July 21 the latest report from the High Council for the Climate : “ 36. This is the number of days when heat waves affect the Métropole de Lyon in the average climate change scenario. This result concerns the period from 2041 to 2070 and is three times higher than the number of days listed over the period 1976 – 2005.
The high temperatures will therefore continue for the end of July but will above all spread in the future, making heat waves a recurring climatic event.
