Since Tuesday, 11 underground faults in the electricity network have been caused by the heat wave in the Métropole de Lyon. These incidents are located mainly in dense urban areas: the municipalities of Villeurbanne, Ecully, Feyzin, Corbas, Oullins and the 9e , 2e and 7e districts of Lyon, were particularly affected.
90% of customers resupplied in less than 3 minutes
The strong heat accumulated over several days raised the temperature of the tarred floors by several tens of degrees, “which put stress on the underground electrical networks”, explains Enedis in a press release.
The public service company ensures that it is on all fronts to repair the damage caused by this heat wave episode: “90% of the customers affected were resupplied in less than 3 minutes, thanks to the network control systems, allowing fault isolation occurred and a consequent reconfiguration of the network in a very short time.
Enedis had anticipated these incidents and pre-mobilized teams to carry out repair operations if necessary. “Since this (Wednesday) noon, all of the customers affected have been supplied with electricity,” says the network manager.
