Amsterdam has the most ICT and media companies
Amsterdam has one complete edition of most ICT and media companies of all Dutch municipalities. The capital has 213 per ten thousand inhabitants. Utrecht is second with 157, followed by the municipality of Gooise Meren (Bussum and surroundings, 145). Haarlem (123), Amstelveen (122), Eindhoven (113), Delft (113), Almere (110), Leusden (106) and Haarlemmermeer (106) complete the top 10.
This is stated on the data platform Waarstaatjegemeente.nl, an initiative of VNG Realization that contains data for, from and about municipalities. One of the dashboards shows sectors are strongly represented within a municipality. The number of branches is considered, not the number of people who work there. Municipalities with many more SMEs relying on ICT and media continue to rely on SMEs. Noord-Holland (124) is at the top of the provinces, followed by Utrecht (108) and Flevoland (85).
For each municipality it is also possible to see which national (IT) facility is being used. For example, a municipality uses GovRoam, the service that enables government organizations to securely share their networks with each other. It is also examined whether a municipality maintains its Software Catalog (SWC) and uses it to create its Gemma architecture.
