63rd International Mathematical Olympiad: 5 medals and Honorable Mention for Greece – Newsbomb – News
The results of the 63rd International Mathematical Olympiad, which has been held since July 6 in Oslo, Norway, have been announced.
THE Greek national missionconsisting of six high school students won 5 medals, 2 silver and 3 bronze, and an Honorable Mention, accumulating a total of 163 points.
Our country’s expedition took 26th place in the world ranking, among 104 countries, and the 6th place among the countries of the European Union.
This is the largest collection of points for Greece in the history of the institution that began in 1959 and in which our country has participated since 1975, and the second best performance (75.73%: 26/104), after 2017.

The results brought joy and excitement to the Greek Mission in Oslo, Norway, and demonstrated the enormous potential and great ability of the Greek contestants.

Compared to other countries, the five best performances were in 2017 (90.00%: 12th/111 countries), this year (75.73%: 26th/104 countries), 2012 (74.74%: 26th/100 countries), 1996 (71 .62%: 22nd/95 countries). ) and 2004 (70.24%: 26th/85 countries).
It is the fourth best year in medal haul after 6 medals in 2017 (1 gold/4 silver/1 bronze) and 1996 (1 silver/5 bronze), the 5 medals in 2012 (1 gold/1 silver/3 bronze/1 EM), and together with 2004 (2 silver/3 copper/1 EM).
