“If Ukraine is occupied, who do you think will stop Russia from annexing the Republic of Moldova, the Baltic countries?”
The PMP president, MEP Eugen Tomac, claims that the money that Europeans have sent to Russia for 30 years has been used for military projects. He explained why new sanctions are needed on Russia, even as they return to the Europeans.
“It is further evidence that the EU no longer wants to take a step back in its adoption measures against Russia (no: the latest wave of sanctions against Russia). Let’s not forget that a month ago, one billion euros left the European Union every day for Russia, on various commercial contracts for oil, coal, gold gas and other products. This seventh package of sanctions pursues the object of stopping the supply of the war machine. For 3 decades, the policy of some states has been to keep Russia close through these trade contracts in order to try to democratize them. The money sent by Europeans for 30 years has been used for military projects and we are witnessing a scene we never thought we could see in Europe after World War II.
The reality is that a state that does not threaten anyone is attacked daily, innocent civilians die every day, and the EU must act. It is good that these sanctions are maintained even if they have had worrying effects in the Member States as well. When the sanctions were imposed, evaluations were made and it was known that we would get here. I wonder what we need to do to protect security, so that Russia will not stop threatening European states.
Ukraine is the first country to be attacked. If Ukraine is occupied, who do you think will stop Russia from annexing the Republic of Moldova, the Baltic countries? We are in the immediate vicinity. We are an exposed state. You have an obligation to take a series of measures, even if they cause disturbances in our societies. We cannot negotiate security and our lives with a leader who behaves like a terrorist and kills innocent people. States have an obligation to be rational and to adapt to the times we live in because peace costs. Who does not understand that peace costs, does not understand what risks we are exposed to.
Gazprom is proving to be much more efficient than the Russian military. Putin is using it as blackmail at the European Union. 12 states no longer receive gas. We need to get ready. Let’s stock up enough, understand that we are making this effort because there is a war that does not affect everyone. Regardless of government efforts, prices cannot be stopped. The prices have been capped, but we have to find alternative solutions “, said Eugen Tomac in the show B1 News presented by Aneta Sângeorzan for B1 TV.
