Toulouse: he climbs to the first floor, passes through a half-open window and rapes a woman three times
A 22-year-old man will be tried in October before the departmental criminal court for three rapes committed on a resident of the Papus district in Toulouse. After seeing it for several days, the suspect climbed to the first floor to sneak into the victim’s bedroom.
Who has never opened a window to fight against the heat wave? What happened to this mother can affect everyone. And it’s chilling. A man broke into her house in the middle of the night. He slipped through a small window left open on one floor and raped the owner of the premises three times before fleeing. This young man born in 2000 is indicted. His judgment before the departmental criminal court is scheduled for October.
Everything takes place on the night of July 3, 2020. To resist the ambient heat and sleep peacefully, a resident of the Papus district leaves the window of her bedroom, located upstairs, ajar. Unlikely for a burglar to climb that far. But as a precaution, she still lowers the metal curtain to 20 cm above the floor. In the early morning, around 6 a.m., this 53-year-old woman heard a strange noise. She wakes up with a start and notices a hand under her roller shutter. A man lifts him to pass his head, then his body into the bedroom. The owner who lives alone is paralyzed. The intruder, a 20-year-old boy, signals her to be quiet and undresses her by force. A first rape, then a second are committed. The aggressor does not speak a word of French but the victim tries to calm him down. She is afraid for her life. This very brave woman convinces him to smoke a cigarette and drink a coffee downstairs. The stranger accepts but ends up raping her a third time before leaving by metro.
Found in Germany then extradited
A complaint was filed the next day at the central police station. The police know that the first hours of the investigation are crucial. They invade the victim’s room and improve traces of blood. While climbing to the roof of the house, the suspect injured his hand. A boon for police officers. His DNA speaks. It corresponds to a young Romanian who cannot be found for several months. He was finally arrested in Germany in December 2020. 30 days later, this first-time offender was extradited to Toulouse. During his custody, he is assisted by Me Nicolas Raynaud-de-Lage. At first, the respondent denies his involvement. Then he confesses. According to his revelations, he would have explained having observed the victim several days before raping her. “It’s the terrible meeting of two totally opposite universes. My client acted like a child who cannot stand frustration,” analyzes the defense lawyer.
