There is no risk to Russia in consolidating the Moldovan army. But the Republic of Moldova must not see any threat in this regard either
The Republic of Moldova must not see a threat from Russia, and the consolidation of the Moldovan army does not create risks for the Russian Federation, the press secretary of the Russian leader, Dmitry Peskov, declared today.
“Regarding the consolidation of the Moldovan army, there are no risks for Russia. But the Republic of Moldova must not see any threat in this regard either. This is completely absurd. Probably someone will compare this with Ukraine. But in this respect, some comparisons are absolutely out of place, “Peskov was quoted as saying by RIA-Novosti and Rador.
Earlier, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, implied that the republic does not want to fight with anyone, but is obliged to prepare for the army’s re-attempt in order to be able to defend itself.
Sandu assured his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, that there are no threats to Ukraine from the unrecognized Transnistria. Sandu emphasized, among other things, that her conviction was based on existing information and “discussions with Tiraspol representatives”. Zelenski had previously threatened to respond with a “blow” to a hypothetical threat from the ransnistria and mentioned several “minor challenges”.
