A great striker close to ASM
AS Monaco Mercato: Wishing to strengthen its offensive sector, ASM is very close to obtaining the signing of an international striker.
AS Monaco Mercato: Breel Embolo approaches ASM
AS Monaco is driving the transfer window on all fronts, both in terms of departures and arrivals, and is trying to strengthen itself in all positions. The offensive sector is particularly targeted by the Monegasque staff, who consider themselves too dependent on the Ben Yedder-Volland duo. After following different leads, Philippe Clément seems to have cast his evolution on one player in particular: Breel’s embolism. The Swiss striker has been disabled at Borussia Mönchengladbach since 2019 but his contract expires in a year. The player being motivated by the Monegasque project, he must now that the club of the Principality agrees with the German club on the transfer compensation.
Negotiations between ASM and Borussia are progressing well. According sky sports, a verbal agreement would have been concluded between the two clubs for a sum greater than 10 million euros. Breel Embolo had aroused the interest of OL last spring but the Lyon leaders preferred to favor the Alexandre Lacazette track.
AS Monaco Mercato: Breel Embolo, an interesting profile for ASM
Breel Embolo meets two fundamental criteria in the eyes of Asemist leaders: an experienced player who knows the Champions League, and an attacker who brings percussion in the offensive sector. The Swiss international (56 caps, 9 goals) has already played in the C1, totaling 20 games with FC Basel, Schalke 04 and Borussia Mönchengladbach, who bought him for 15 million euros in 2019. It cost 26 , 5 million euros to the Rhur club to attract him to the Bundesliga three years earlier but had not shone and then returned to Borussia.
Embolo has an interesting profile for attacking ASM. A hard-hitting player who weighs on defences, comfortable in the depths, on one side or as a number 9, he would be an ideal complement to Takumi Minamino, recently recruited from Liverpool for 15 million euros. Author of 9 goals in 29 Bundesliga games last season, Embolo shone at the last Euro with Switzerland. In addition to the two criteria selected above, the native of Yaoundé is still young and corresponds to the sports policy of the ASM which aims to develop players with high potential to sell them at a higher price later.
If the transfer of Breel Embolo goes quickly, AS Monaco coach Philippe Clément would have an interesting attacking sector with Wissam Ben Yedder, Kevin Volland, Myron Boadu, Takumi Minamino and Breel Embolo, and would have at his provision of versatile and interchangeable talent players, most of whom can improve on the sides as well as in the axis. The Belgian technician would have a full squad well before the busy resumption of August, during which the ASM will multiply the meetings, alternate between the championship and the preliminary rounds of the Champions League.
