Survey: if public transport were cheaper, they would prefer to go by car in Budapest
The latest survey by the Publicus Institute revealed that two-thirds of the citizens of the capital would prefer to travel by car even if the public transport pass was only around HUF 3,600.
The survey was prepared by the Publicus Institute at the request of Népszava, which it ATV also witnessed, and it is written, among those interviewed Fidesz and Mi Hazánk voters find public transport the least useful; 58 percent of the former and 47 percent of the latter travel without a car.
Considering the other opposition parties, this ratio is currently between 63 and 74 percent. According to the survey, 56 percent of Fidesz voters in Budapest would not give up driving even with a cheaper public transport pass, but 73 percent of MSZP voters and 64 percent of Momentum voters would be open to switching.
People living in the agglomeration were also asked about the matter, which of them 18 percent said that they would use public transport more in case of a cheaper pass: the vast majority of those interviewed were members of the MSZP and momentary, while an extremely low proportion of Fidesz members declared that they would switch.
According to the results of the survey, 57 percent of the population of Budapest support the capital saving on public lighting between midnight and 4 a.m., while 53 percent reject the congestion charge. Regarding the congestion charge, the difference is quite large: 94 percent of Fidesz members oppose the issue, while 80-90 percent of opposition members support it..
