Prague will improve the Botič riverbed in Nuslí near the Folimanka park
The Prague municipality will have the bed and banks of the Botič stream reconstructed in the section near the Folimanka park. City councilors decided today to launch a public tender for the company that will carry out the work. They should cost about 8.6 million CZK without VAT and should be completed in May next year.
According to the municipality, the stream bed is in a state of emergency. “The existing heavily degraded bottom of the stone paving will be completely demolished in a length of about 150 meters,” the document states. The tendered company will build a new bottom from the so-called bouldery plain, place stone paving along the existing embankment walls and clean the walls and, if necessary, grout. The modifications are intended to stabilize the bed and support the self-cleaning abilities of the stream.
At the end of last year, the Prague administration also approved modifications to Botič in Záběhlice, concerning the left bank and the stream bed. After the completion of the works with an estimated value of about 17.2 million CZK, the stream bed will be more accessible and more connected to the surrounding public greenery. At the same time, it will be more stable.
The Folimanka Park, through which the Botič stream flows, was created after the completion of the Nuselské bridge in 1973, until then the area served as a building background. With a length of 34.5 kilometers, Botič is one of the longest streams in Prague. It originates south of Prague and flows into the Vltava at Výton. The Botič-Milíčov and Hostivař-Záběhlice nature parks are located around the stream, which includes the natural monument Meandra Botič.
