Kiev’s relations with Germany, which is heavily dependent on energy supplies from Russia and represents Europe’s largest economy, are particularly sensitive. The two countries got into a dispute over a turbine for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, which carries gas to Germany. The turbine is now in Canada for maintenance.
