The garden of the Straka Academy in Prague has been repaired and opened to the public
The main objective of the reconstruction was to remove some of the original insensitive touches, to give the gardens a representative character adequate to the significance of the government palace building, and the composition to follow the style and work of the original architect Frantik Thomayer. The project of the right garden was developed by Atelir Krejik.
The renovation of the area was coordinated with the reconstruction of Kosrkov nbe. According to the full disclosures last year, the reconstruction cost about 75 million crowns. I am glad that we managed to finish the reconstruction before the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. We would like to open this space to people as much as possible. That’s why we decided to open the garden every Saturday and until the end of the holidays, before the official opening of the gardens, which will be at the end of August, said Jana Kotalkov, the head of the government.
Chosen by historicizing the concept of the space according to the response of the neo-baroque architecture of the building as well as to the contemporary monuments, it takes into account the possibilities of effective distribution throughout the vegetated period.
Here, the farmers built 5,000 meters of green lawns, regenerated 11,000 meters of green grass, restored fences and planted 380 trees. There are now 15,500 flowers in the gardens.
The garden is newly laid out in such a way that it can be used not only for welcoming foreign delegations, but can also be regularly opened to the public. The first visitors on Saturday saw, in addition to the central decorative fields, two areas that could be used for mobile installations. A novelty is the fountain coordinated with reproduced music.
The building was also being repaired soon
the real gardens followed the reconstruction of the government seat, which died two years ago after those years. The renovation of the building cost 301.5 million crowns. In the evening, the laws were held in operation, only because of the different windows in the main hall, and the government offices had been sitting in the Hrznský palák in Hradany for several months.
A garden has been on the grounds of the current grounds of the Straka Academy since the 15th century. The academy building in these cities was built between 1891 and 1896 according to the design and plans of the architect Vclav Rotlapil. After its completion, according to Count Jan Petr Straka, it served as a student dormitory for impoverished sons of Czech families. For the second time, the wolf was reserved for the needs of the new Slovak government, and since 1993 the Straka Academy has been a seat of the Czech government.
In the course of the 20th century, the garden suffered tremendous impacts in the form of a combination of grass, asphalt, concrete surfaces, clay, earthwork, and various types of paving stones, which lacked a conceptual concept. Thus, the technical state of the construction and equipment was, according to the government, at the limit of its life, and the use of it did not meet the technical requirements of the building.
The garden of the Straka Academy will be open free of charge every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in January and August. The entrance is from Kosrkov nébe, visitors must go through the security room.
