Special care time: Inquiries at AK are piling up
politics
Since July 9, working parents have no longer been allowed to finance their children suffering from the coronavirus during a special care period at home. Inquiries from concerned parents are increasing at the Salzburg Chamber of Labor after the federal government is still leaving open whether the special care option will be reintroduced.
So far, parents of infected children have been able to take advantage of a special care period of up to three weeks – this option has not been available since the beginning of July. Since then, the Chamber of Labor has received daily calls from concerned parents. The legal experts can currently only advise affected parents to take leave to look after CoV-positive children or to negotiate a voluntary leave of absence with the employer.
AK criticism: error from the repeated self
According to the Chamber of Labor, there are currently no other options for support. The mistakes from the previous year are currently being repeated, criticizes the head of the legal department of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor, Heimo Typplt: “It was similar last year – here the special care period was suspended over the summer and then it was reintroduced in October retrospectively for September .
AK will reach special care time as soon as possible
Because of the numerous inquiries for parents, the Chamber of Labor will work to ensure that the continuation of the special care period is decided earlier today. “In Vienna, people know that we have a high level of credibility because we can back up the numbers with calls and cases. We hope that sanity will return then,” says Typplt.
