Perebyjnis will probably finish in Prague during August, after which he will return to Kyiv
In the future, he did not rule out the possibility that he could eventually move to an embassy in another country. Perebyjnis told ČTK today. Last week, he was dismissed from the post of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Towards the end of his stay in Prague, Perebyjnis said that he had been informed about him by Zelenský before the recall. According to him, the reasons are diplomatic customs, when ambassadors usually change after four years. Perebyjnis has been in the Czech Republic for five and a half years. He did not want to evaluate his work in the Czech Republic yet, maybe he will comment on it at the end of his mandate, he said.
Another diplomatic career
Perebyjnis does not yet know the exact date of his return to Kyiv, but I expect it to be in August. Ultimately, he should return to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but he did not rule out continuing his diplomatic career in another country in the future. “I have been working in the diplomatic service for over 30 years. I have been to different countries and I hope there will be another opportunity,” added the 53-year-old diplomat.
Perebyj has been the ambassador to the Czech Republic since 2017. Previously, he was the head of the embassy in Latvia, and also worked as a spokesman for Ukrainian diplomacy. In the 1990s and at the beginning of the millennium, he also worked at the embassy in Prague, successively in the role of second secretary, first secretary and council. He recently drew attention to himself with an open letter in which he protested the inclusion of the Russian film Captain Volkonogov Runaway in the program of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
In addition to Perebyjnis, the Ukrainian president last week also recalled ambassadors from Germany, Hungary, Norway and India.
