Toulouse. 3rd edition of “Spain on its 31 – The Andalusian night” –
This musical event, whose artistic direction is designated to the songwriter Vicente Pradal, was launched in 2019 as part of the commemoration of the Spanish Republican exile. It honors artists reflecting the diversity of Spain to the sound of the big names in Andalusian music and flamenco.
The evening will begin with a Sevillian ball hosted by the six musicians of the Toulouse group Careos, who will invite the public to dance to the rhythm of the Sevillian, a traditional dance from Seville, emblematic of the ferias of Andalusia and the south of France.
This 3rd edition will welcome the young Spanish singer from Jerez, María Terremoto, proclaimed by the media “the princess of cante jondo”, for a journey through the memory of her ancestors, appropriating the seguiriya, the soleá, the bulería and the fandangos.
At the end of this evening, the baillaor Juan Manuel Montoya, nicknamed Farruquito, grandson of the illustrious Farruco, will offer the public his show entitled “Íntimo” which he performs, accompanied by his favorite musicians, at the heart of history and flamenco traditions and its own identity.
“L’Espagne sur son 31 – The Andalusian night” brings together nearly 1,200 spectators during each edition in the courtyard of the Hôtel du Département.
“By organizing Spain on its 31 – The Andalusian night, the County Council has come together to highlight the deep ties that unite Spain and our territory. Placed under the sign of music and dance, under the artistic direction of Vicente Pradal, this event recalls this piece of common history that we share with these thousands of Spanish exiles who fled Franco’s barbarism and tyranny. emphasizes Georges Meric.
