Demand for food at Too Good To Go in Portugal increases. Inflation among those charged – Marketeer
Between March and May of this year, the number of people shopping for food through Too Good To Go increased by 11% in Portugal, compared to the first three months of 2022. According to the application dedicated to combating food waste, this rise appears in line with the increase in inflation in the country, so it will not be just a coincidence.
«This is, without a doubt, a complex period and, when prices rise and impact something as basic and fundamental as food, it is natural that consumers look for ways to optimize our family budget», says Nuno Plácido, country manager at Too Good To Go in Portugal.
According to the user, the Too Good To Go user has always been aware of the importance of a more conscious and sustainable consumption, but the increase seen between March and May suggests that the app is also, increasingly, an offer with cost benefit.
Data from Too Good To Go shows that a third of the Magic Boxes purchased in the app, over the last few months, came from supermarkets. This type of basket provides access to essential products such as fruits and vegetables, pasta, flour or dairy products.
