It was logical that the group Latécoère, an essential subcontractor for the world’s major aircraft manufacturers, is joining forces with L’Envol des pioneers. This space dedicated to the history of civil aeronautics in Toulouse is located in the old buildings of Latécoère, where the first Aéropostale planes were assembled more than a century ago. The group, which has kept its headquarters in the Pink City, is now deployed in 15 countries and operates in all segments of aeronautics (commercial, regional, business and military aircraft).
The place of memory also announces a partnership with the company Air, which has designed and manufactured since 2011 drones for industrial and security applications. The company started its activities on the historic site of Toulouse Montaudran, at the end of the Aéropostale runway. Three other companies join forces with L’Envol des Pionniers: Aura Aerowhich occupies the aircraft market at low carbon, Open airlineswhich offers airlines tools to reduce their carbon footprint, and Securityspecializing in the training of aviators and flight personnel.
“These five companies invested in the aeronautical sector adhere to the pioneering spirit of the place and share the values of initiative, entrepreneurship, innovation dear to the precursors of mail transport by air, Aéropostale.”
An exhibition on Pierre-Georges Latécoère
The father of Toulouse aeronautics also deserved to have an exhibition offered to him, at the foot of the Montaudran runway that he had had built. This will be chosen, next December, at L’Envol des pioneers. “Throughout this new temporary exhibition, which will combine the challenges of yesterday and today, Pierre-Georges Latécoère allows you to imagine for yourselves how aviation could continue to connect menin response to contemporary challenges”.
Didier Daurat’s office, as it was then
In addition, the reconstruction of the historic office of Didier Daurat, the emblematic operations manager of Aéropostale, will be offered to the public next September. Located in Château Petit Espinet Raynal, the room, faithfully reproduced on the basis of a photographic snapshot from August 1920, will be accessible to visitors as part of the “Tour de piste” visit.
