Toulouse emergencies: new strike this Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 July at the Purpan hospital
A new strike movement is impacting the emergencies of the Purpan hospital in Toulouse, this Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 July 2022. Only emergencies submitted by the SAMU (Allo 15) will be received. Rangeuil emergencies are not affected this time.
For the fifth week of affiliation, the emergency staff of the Toulouse University Hospital is called to strike. The reception of patients promises to be disrupted this Monday, July 4 and Tuesday, July 5. Here’s what to know if you need to go to the emergency room.
What are the dates of the social movement?
The strike call will begin on Monday July 4 at 8:00 a.m. and last until Tuesday July 5 at 8:00 a.m. From this Sunday, July 3 at 8:00 p.m., the management of the Toulouse University Hospital is asking the population not to come directly to the emergency room but to call the SAMU (15) for any urgent medical assistance.
Which sites are affected?
The social concerns only the Purpan movement hospital on July 4 and 5. The Rangueil emergencies remain open but “will have to prioritize the admissions of patients in a state of vital emergency oriented by the SAMU”, specifies the management of the CHU.
Is the children’s hospital concerned?
The Toulouse-Purpan children’s hospital is not concerned: patients can go there if the state of health of their child justifies it.

Could patients be turned away?
As in previous weeks, the Toulouse University Hospital asks the population to call the SAMU (Allo 15) before any trip to Purpan for somatic and psychiatric adult emergencies. Patients who need a medical answer that does not justify a call to the SAMU can contact 3966 by telephone after 8 p.m. to be put in touch with the general practitioner on duty.
Where are the discussions?
The CGT union is asking for 41 full-time equivalent positions at Purpan, 22 at Rangueil and 27 for psychiatric emergencies. The management of the CHU proposed Saturday an increase in staff by step by consolidating the teams: 16 people in the adult emergencies of Purpan, 9 in the adult emergencies of Rangueil and 6 in the psychiatric emergencies. The management of the CHU ensures “to carry out a proactive recruitment policy on all services for several months, in order to fill the 120 vacant nursing positions”.
