New app lets you discover the Natura 2000 Network in Portugal
Today, the first app to discover the Natura 2000 Network in Portugal is launched: the Natura 2000 Passport. Developed by Palombar – Conservation of Nature and Rural Heritage and financed by the Environmental Fund, the application allows exploring biodiversity, heritage and that belongs to this network, which is the main instrument for the conservation of nature and biodiversity in the European Union.
When accessing the application, you have three categories – Nature, Heritage and Communities – and 27 places to visit. The areas to be explored are distributed in the Douro Internacional and Minas de Santo Adrião areas. As the name conveys, it is a virtual passport, which can be “stamped” by reading QR Codes distributed by the locations. The stamp allows the user to have relevant information about each of the local accesses and a true sensorial and technological experience.
The app is officially launched this Friday by ONGA, at a public event that takes place at PINTA – Parque Ibérico de Natureza e Aventura, in Vimioso, in the district of Bragança, starting at 2 pm.
The application is available in Portuguese and English, free of charge, Google Play and on app store.
