I-Tech and RISE (Swedish Research Institute) host industry and academia for future talks on solutions for marine bottom staining
The developers of biotechnology for antifouling, Selektope®, I-Tech AB and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB will host important discussions between the marine industry’s end users, paint companies and the academy on antifouling coating technology as the first line of defense against the increasingly tough issue of marine biofouling.
International Antifouling Conference 2022 will be held on 13-14 September at the iconic Eriksbergsvarvet area in Gothenburg, Sweden. The conference is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and funds from the Västra Götaland region (Sweden). The main sponsor of the conference is the specialty chemicals company Lanxess.
Dr. Markus Hoffman, technical director at I-Tech, says: “The idea for this initiative was raised when one of the most important forums where the R&D community from the marine coating sector usually reassembles was postponed due to the global health crisis. With an increasing risk profile for biofouling, it is It is important to have an open platform to discuss the pros and cons of current technologies and explore new research and potential new solutions. “
Dr Mattias Berglin, senior researcher at RISE, says: “We have already attracted a very high level speaker program to the conference, which confirms the need for this platform. Having academia, industry and end users in a room to discuss challenges and solutions will provide unique perspectives and insights for everyone involved. ”
More than thirty expert speakers from companies including AkzoNobel, American Chemet, Chalmers University of Technology, SSPA, CorPower Ocean, Keel Crab, Annex3, Marine Benchmark, Swedish Airline, Tecnalia and Boero have been confirmed. Keynote speeches will be given by representatives from Hempel, Safinah Group, Steen-Hansen, Université de Toulon and Stena Teknik.
In addition to the two-day conference program, delegates from the International Antifouling Conference 2022 will also enjoy an optional visit to Kristineberg’s center for marine research and innovation, located on Sweden’s west coast.
