Man (45) stabbed to death in apartment in Antwerp, police arrest suspect (42) on site (Antwerp)
A 45-year-old man from Ekeren was killed in a stabbing in the Antwerp district of Dam on Thursday afternoon. The victim was stabbed to two and died on the street from his injuries. The suspect, a 42-year-old man with Dutch nationality, was arrested on the spot.
The facts took place on Thursday in an apartment building in the Twee Netenstraat in the Dam district. According to residents, the victim’s ex-wife lives there, along with their children and her new boyfriend. The victim, a 45-year-old man from Ekeren, came to pick up his son that afternoon, which degenerated into a serious argument. The new friend took a knife and stabbed the victim in the back and chest area.
The victim ran onto the street, but died of his injuries. The police were able to arrest the new friend, a 42-year-old Dutchman, at the apartment building.
The judicial lab, the local detective and the investigating judge are on site for further investigation. “Although it was initially thought that the facts took place inside the apartment, that too has yet to be fully clarified,” said Willem Migom, said of the Antwerp police.
The victim’s family and are taken care of by victim support.
